Well, phase two is finally here! This is the week that my husband, Andrew, will begin flying. It is a very exciting time for us! Along with all the excitement also comes the expectation of ridiculously long days and a lot of work. Phase two may be exciting, but it will also be exhausting.
While my husband is flying, he is on something called a “formal release.” This means that he will have 12 hour days until they let him off of “formal release” which unfortunately, will not be anytime in the near future. I knew what to expect going into this- less time with my husband and a lot more stress.
It may not be an easy time and there will most definitely be a lot of stress; but I know that this phase is only for a year and then we will move on to bigger and better things. The hope of bigger and better things is what will push me through this next year and help me strive to be the wife that he deserves.
On a brighter note- My sister sent me a text just a few minutes ago and let me know that my nephew, Blake, is now referring to me as “Uncle Andrew’s Wife.” This is amusing considering she is my sister and I have definitely been in the picture a lot longer than “Uncle Andrew.” I guess he made a really good impression on little Blake. It’s good to know that the kids love my husband.
We were planning on going down to see my sister and the kids for Labor Day, but we probably won’t make it down there this time. The plan was to stay with my sister one night and then stay in a hotel the next, but my sister’s in-laws will be there as well. We are still considering the option of just staying in a hotel the whole time, but I am also open to going some other place for the long weekend.
I was looking up places in Birmingham, AL and checking into what kind of things my husband and I could do while we are there. I also looked at the restaurants in the area and oh my goodness, they look wonderful! Decisions, Decisions!
I’ll probably just leave the decision making up to my husband, with a little influence from me anyway 🙂
