I am not a pro when it comes to government issues, and now looking back I wish I had paid more attention to my economics class. I do know, however, that this whole budget crisis has had a toll on many families. The past two weeks have been very stressful for many families and government employees. I live on an air force base and the first day of the budget indecision I watched as a stream of vehicles exited the gate- with no answers to when they would come back to work or get paid.
The scariest part to me regarding this budget, is realizing how much debt our country is in. It is astounding to me how much we have borrowed and spent! The value of our dollar will surely depreciate even more in the near future. I remember the bail-out in 2008, although I didn’t really understand what was going on at that time and severity of the issue. Our nation is in so much financial trouble, it scares me. How are we supposed to trust our leaders and our government when they are putting us in such a terrible situation?
They said they are going to be ending the shutdown, but are they really resolving things? Or just prolonging them?
